Wash House in Melegís

Before the construction of the drinking water and sanitation network in 1974, the women of the municipality used this laundry room to soap and rinse their clothes. Its structure was built based on the popular architecture of Granada, and some say that the current construction, although it is made of stone, is not the original one. It has flat slabs on a washing trough and raised up to the waist. The roof, in part, is supported by painted poplar wood to try to preserve it from the moth. The Laundry room, which is now practically unused, is set in a beautiful and rustic corner, decorated with the tradition of the dishes on the wall, which dates back to the time of the Bastetans more than 2500 years ago.
